DIY Ruffled Towels

Looking to add a touch of elegance and charm to your bathroom? Why not try your hand at creating your own ruffled towels? This fun and stylish DIY project will not only give your towels a unique and personalized look, but it will also add a touch of luxury to your everyday routine. These beautiful and unique towels will not only add a touch of elegance to your space but also showcase your creativity and craftsmanship.

Now, let’s measure the fabric. Measure the length of the towel you are going to sew your ruffle on.

Next, measure your ruffle fabric. You will double the length of your ruffled fabric to the length of your towel. So if your towel measures 24 inches across, your ruffle fabric will be 48 inches.

Next, measure the width you want your ruffle to be. I measured mine 5 inches. So your ruffle fabric would be 48 inches long and 5 inches in width.

If your ruffle fabric is not long enough to double, cut two pieces of fabric and sew them together to get the full 48 inches long.

Next, hem one end about 1/4 inch.

If you have to sew two pieces together to get the full 48 inches, put right sides together and sew as shown

Now take the other long end and hand sew long straight stitches. I used embroidery thread for this step. Be sure to tie a knot in the end before threading through the fabric.

Now, pull the thread so that it pulls the fabric together creating ruffles, then pin it to the wrong side of your towel, wrong sides together.

Be sure to fold both ends of your ruffled fabric 1/4 inch in so it will create a nice little hem on each end when your finished. (as shown above)

Take it to your sewing machine and sew onto your towel.

Don’t forget to backstitch!

Add your lace by pinning it in place.

Be sure to fold over the raw edges as shown below. Next pin your rickrack and sew in place.

Congratulations! You did it!
