DIY Twig Candle Holder

Materials
- LED candle - do NOT use this with a real flame
- Cardboard
- Cardstock
- Hemp cord - optional
- A glass or other cylindrical item from your home to use as a template
- Twigs cut to about 10-12 cm lengths. I recommend a clean, relatively straight twig, with some variation in thickness among your twigs.
Tools
- Hot glue gun
- Good quality glue sticks
- Scissors
- Craft knife or
- Utility knife
Instructions
1. Start by cutting your twigs to size. Use a craft or utility knife to help you do this.
They should be about 10-12 cm. in height. They'll stand a bit taller than your base of your twig candle holder.
2. Cut a piece of cardboard about 8x23 cm and set it aside for now.
3. Trace the bottom of the glass on a piece of cardstock.
4. Draw another circle around it, leaving about 1cm between the inner and outer circles. Cut out around the outer circle.
5. Use the glass to shape your cardboard. Simply bend it around the glass and glue the two ends together to form the base of your twig candle holder. Don't glue the cardboard to the glass. When the glue has set, slip out the glass to form the base.
6. Cut a few slits in the outer border of the circle, through to the inner circle, and fold it up to form some tabs. Glue the circle into the bottom of the cylinder you formed in the previous step to form the bottom/base. Note: you don't really need a base, but this will make it easier to move around with the candle inside.
7. Start gluing your twigs in place around the perimeter of the cardboard cylinder!
Note: the tops can vary, but make sure the bottom is pretty much flush with the bottom of your cylinder to allow it to stand and be stable.
Glue them all around the perimeter until you meet the first!
8. If you'd like to, you can tie a piece of hemp cord around the candle to make it look like a gathered bundle of firewood. Total hygge!
