Crochet Angel Potholder

MATERIALS: worsted weight or cotton yarn - white
2" cabone (plastic) ring
¼" satin ribbon
1/8" satin ribbon
12" strand of white "string" pearls, plus small piece to go around neck
8 - 3/8" pearlized beads
3 - ½" paper or silk roses
Crochet hook size G

Approx. 10" tall

To begin, join yarn to plastic ring with sl st, 35sc around ring. Join with sl st to beg sc. [35sc]

(you will be working in rnds now)
Rnd 1: Ch3, turn, working in front loops, 3dc in same sp as joining, (4dc in next st)twice, turn, working in back loops of the same sts you just worked in, 4dc in each of next 3 sts. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-3. [24sts]

Rnd 2: Ch4(this is beg dc & ch1), *dc in next st, ch1. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to the 3rd ch of beg ch-4. [24dc, 24ch-1 sps]

Rnd 3: Sl st in first ch-1 sp, (Ch3, 1dc, ch2, 2dc) in same sp, ch1, *skip next ch-1 sp, (2dc, ch1, 2dc)in next ch-1 sp, ch1. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-3. [12 shells made]

Rnd 4: Sl st over to ch-2 sp of first shell, (ch3, 1dc, ch2, 2dc) in same sp as sl st, ch1, *shell in next shell, ch1. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-3. [12 small shells made]

Rnd 5: Sl st over to ch-2 sp of first shell, (ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc) in same sp, ch1, *(3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next shell, ch1. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-3. Fasten off

Rnd 6: Attach yarn with sl st to ch-1 sp between the 8th & 9th shell of last round. Ch4, (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next shell, ch1, (dc, ch1,dc[V-stitch made]) in next ch-1 sp between shells, ch1, shell in next shell, ch1, dc in next ch-1 sp between shells, ch1, skip next 4 shells, dc in next ch-1 sp between shells, ch1, shell in next shell, ch1, (dc, ch1, dc) in next ch-1 sp between shells, ch1, shell in next shell, ch1, dc in next ch-1 sp between shells, ch1, skip next 4 shells. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-4.

Rnd 7: Ch4, shell in next shell, ch1, shell in ch1 sp of V-stitch, ch1, shell in next shell, ch1, dc in ch-1 sp between the side two dc, ch1, shell in next shell, ch1, shell in ch-1 sp of V-stitch, ch1, shell in next shell, ch1. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-4.

Rnds 8-11: Ch4, (shell in next shell, ch1) 3 times, dc in next dc, ch1, (shell in next shell, ch1) 3 times. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-4.

Rnd 12: Ch3, (8dc in next shell) 3 times, dc in next dc, (8dc in next shell) 3 times. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-3. Fasten off. Weave in all loose ends.

Take 2 pieces of ¼" ribbon, approx. 14-16" long and hold together, tie in a bow. Glue to the center front waist of angel's dress.
Take a 12" length of string pearls and fold in half. Glue the folded end to the center of bow.
Glue the 3 roses to the center of bow on top of the string of pearls.
Make a tiny bow, approx. 1" wide from the 1/8" ribbon. Glue to center top part of halo.
Take a small length of string pearls & glue around neck for necklace.
Glue one pearl bead to each shell center point (Two on each wing front & 3 across the bottom of the angel's dress).

Glue the last pearl bead to the neck line just below the string of pearls.
