Crochet Brimmed Hat

A crochet brimmed hat is a stylish and practical accessory that can be both fun to make and wear! The brim adds a touch of flair to your outfit while providing extra shade and protection from the sun. With a wide variety of yarn colors and textures to choose from, you can customize your hat to match your personal style. Whether you're a seasoned crocheter or just starting out, crocheting a brimmed hat can be a rewarding project that allows you to showcase your creativity. So grab your crochet hook, pick out your favorite yarn, and get ready to create a cozy and chic accessory that you'll love to sport all year round!

I am using double strands of Red Heart Super Saver and a K hook The blue one is used with one strand of Lion Brand Homespun. It actually came out a tiny bit begger than the red heart ones. These fit about a 21-23 inch head, but smaller hook or even bigger hook can change the size, also adding or taking off an increase row

Rnd 1) ch3, 11dc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st to top of first dc, 11dc
Rnd 2)ch2 (does not count as st, now and throughout) 2dc in each st around, 22dc
Rnd 3) ch2, 2dc in same st as joining, dc in next st, * 2dc in next st, dc in next st, repeat from * around. 33dc
Rnd 4) ch2, 2dc in same st, dc in next 2sts, * 2dc in next st, dc in next 2sts, repeat from * around, 44dc
Rnd 5-10) ch2, dc in same st and in each st around, fasten off
For brim attach yarn closer to the front away from the joining of rounds.
Row 1) 2sc in first st, sc accross 18sts, 2sc in next sts, ch 1, turn
Row 2-4) ch1 sc in same st and in each st accross, ch1, turn
Row 5-7) ch1, sc first 2sts together, sc accross to last 2sts, sc last 2sts together. Do not turn, continue around side of brim to sc evenly around hat and across brim.
Fasten off weave in ends. You can embellish this hat with buttons, flowers, ribbon, all kinds of things. Make it girly or not! Have fun with it

When you finish the main part of the hat at the end of row 10 its far too small. Am I missing something? Didnt know if I had the complete pattern. Making for a friend for Xmas. Thanks

Hello 👋

The pattern is for 21-23 inch head but you can make it for a bigger size. What size of hook are you using? You can consider adding some rows if the hat is small 🍀

Is your pattern in US or UK terms as I have done DC throughout but wondering as I am in the UK in these should be trebles instead. Currently 6" width. Size 5 crochet hook.
