Supplies:
- ribbon
- cinnamon sticks
- star stickers
- scissors
- glue
Start by cutting different ribbons into strips and laying the ribbon face side down in a row. You can ask your preschooler to create a pattern with the ribbons or just let them organize them in a random pattern. After they have created their design, lay the cinnamon stick on top of the ribbon to make sure the pattern isn’t too long or too short.
Adjust the ribbon as necessary, then put a layer of glue on the cinnamon stick and press it firmly onto the ribbon. Hold the cinnamon stick in place for a minute to make sure it’s stuck, then allow the glue to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
When you’re sure the glue is dry, you can start creating your ribbon trees! To turn the rows of ribbon into a tree, each ribbon needs to be cut at an angle just slightly shorter than the ribbon below it. The best way to do this is to line up the scissors at an angle and snip each ribbon until you reach the top of the tree. Cut one side, then repeat the same process on the other side.
After the ribbons have been cut, place a star sticker on the top of the tree to complete the ribbon trees. Then, flip the tree over and attach a loop of ribbon or twine to the top of the tree so you can hang it on your Christmas tree. Secure the loop with glue and make sure the glue is completely dry before you hang your preschool Christmas ornament on the tree.
