What you need:

  • Pipe cleaners
  • Scissors
  • Beads
  • Cardstock
  • Markers
  • Hot glue gun

How To:

Step 1
For the treble clef, bend the pipe cleaner into the shape, using hot glue to secure if necessary. To make the beaded treble clef, just thread the beads onto the pipe cleaner first, making sure to bend a little hook at the ends so that the beads don’t all fall off.
Step 2
For the music notes, start with a full-length pipe cleaner and form a small loop at the end. Bend the pipe cleaner up, across, and back down and then form another matching loop. When I did this, I had some excess pipe cleaner so trimmed this off. Take another matching pipe cleaner and attach it above the loops to form the rectangle at the top. You can use the same bead technique for the music notes, but I found they didn’t sit well on the loops of the music note so decided to skip the beads for these ones.
Step 3
Cut rectangles from cardstock that are big enough to fit your pipe cleaner shapes, as well as a message.
Step 4
Hot glue the pipe cleaner shapes down onto the cards.
Step 5

Use a marker to write your message onto the card – a generic musical one like “you make my heart sing!” works really nicely, or you can use lyrics to favorite songs that have a sort of Valentine’s Day/love theme to them – I went with ABBA lyrics here, of course!
