If you're looking to add some extra fun to your Easter festivities, why not try making DIY joke Easter eggs? It's a playful way to bring laughter and smiles to your Easter egg hunt or gift baskets. So grab your markers, eggs, and best jokes - it's time to create some egg-citing surprises for everyone to enjoy!

What you need:

  • Apple Barrel Acrylic Paint Set
  • Paintbrushes
  • Mod Podge Matte
  • Alphabet pasta
  • Eggs (artificial or hard-boiled)
  • Tweezers (optional)

Steps:

Step 1
First things first: decide what jokes you want to feature on your eggs! Your kids might already have a few favorites, but if not take a look online at children’s joke sites, or go old school and get out the joke book! Shorter jokes are best, but you can always divide them onto multiple eggs if you need.

Pour the alphabet pasta onto a plate or your work surface and pick through the letters to spell out your jokes. Once you have all the letters you need, arrange them onto a piece of scrap paper and give them a coat of paint. It helps to hold them as you paint, so your fingers might get a little messy here. Let them dry completely, trying not to let them harden in a big blob of paint to keep the letters as tidy and legible as possible.

Step 2
While the letters are drying, paint the eggs! If you have some rolls of washi tape (or cut up an empty paper towel roll into short pieces) they are perfect little stands for the eggs as you paint, and to let them dry as well.

Step 3
And the final step is to adhere the jokes onto the eggs! Rest the egg in the roll of washi tape again so that it’s laying flat. Pour a little bit of Mod Podge onto a plate and carefully use tweezers (or your fingers if you prefer) to dip the back of each letter into the Mod Podge and then place onto the egg. Don’t worry, any excess will dry clear!
