Materials

  • Eggs
  • Faux flowers
  • Gold glitter
  • Piece of cardstock (paper would be okay too)
  • Tools
  • Black marker
  • Hot glue and glue gun

Instructions

  1. You will begin with a rectangular piece of cardstock or paper. If you use paper, it is best if it is thicker, sturdier paper. You could go with cardboard too, but only if it is the very thin type.
  2. Rolling the piece of cardstock, create a cone shape. Take your time to create a nice, neat point. This will be the unicorn’s horn. Trim the bottom edge so that it is flat, and use hot glue to hold the cone together. Wait for that to dry before you continue.

Now it is time to decorate the horn and give it the right texture. To do this, you are going to use hot glue to draw a spiral around the horn from the top to the bottom. You will then sprinkle glitter over the glue before it dries so that it defines the spiral shape. To take a shortcut to doing this, I filled a small container with glitter and literally dipped the horn inside as I added each bit of glue. Either approach (the dipping or the sprinkling) can get the job done. Go slowly with the glue so that you get a nice, neat spiral and so that you do not end up with glitter stuck to the horn in odd places.

If you are making multiple unicorn eggs, I suggest batch-processing them. Instead of finishing your first egg before you start the next, do each step concurrently for all the eggs. So for example, you can fold all the cone shapes and trim them to start out, and then you can put the glue and glitter on each of them before you proceed to the next step.

Next, you can draw the eyes on your eggs

Use hot glue to attach the horns to the top of the eggs.

Hot glue the faux flowers onto the eggs around the horns to create floral crowns.

You have no finished creating your beautiful, magical unicorn eggs!
