DIY Valentine’s Wooden Heart Wreath

Three Tips:
• You can purchase the wood branch slices at your local craft store if you don’t have a saw (or a handy friend), but they can be pricey.
• When selecting your heart wreath form, you want to choose the flattest one you can find. This will make the gluing process easier. Don’t be afraid to lay several out on the floor in front of you, at the craft store, to assist in picking the best heart shape for your project. (I did!)
• Don’t forget to pull up a coupon for your craft store, via your smart-phone. This often saves me 40% off my highest ticket item.
DIY Directions:
1. First protect your work-surface and lay down some paper. Hot glue will definitely seep through the vines of your heart form.
2. Plug in your hot glue gun, give it a few minutes to warm up. Use caution, hot glue burns hurt!
3. Experiment with the placement of your wood slices on your heart form.
4. Once you found the best fit – start gluing. You will want to squeeze a rather large blob of glue on the form to adhere to the discs.
Tip: It is helpful if you butt the sides of each disc against one another, and hit with a little glue.
5. Once you have completed gluing the bottom layer of wood slices onto your wreath form, you are ready to experiment with the placement of your top layer. I find staggering a disc on top of two bottom layer discs to be the most aesthetically pleasing. Again, you are going to squeeze out a large blob of glue to attach each wood slice.
6. Let your glue dry. Typically, hot glue only takes a few minutes to set. Now hold your wreath upright to be certain that your wreath is sturdy. If not, add more glue to the weak spots.
7. Tie a big knot or bow through your heart wreath and hang!
Bonus DIY: If you have any left-over wood slices, you can create these darling ornaments with a wood-burner, a small eye-hook, and a little ribbon!
