Materials: 

  • Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn:
  • White – 2 oz, 95 yds (57 g, 86 m)
  • Red – 1 oz, 50 yds (30 g, 46 m)
  • Small amounts of Green and Brown.
  • (Sugar ‘n Cream – White, Country Red, Hot Green, Warm Brown)
  • Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Dishcloth

Rnd 1: (Right Side) With White, ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 5 (counts as first dc and ch 2 now and throughout), (2 dc in ring, ch 2) 3 times; dc in ring; join with sl st to first dc. (8 dc)

Rnds 2-5: Sl st to first ch-2 sp, ch 5, 2 dc in same sp, * (dc in next dc) across to corner; (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 sp, rep from * around omitting last corner of final repeat; dc in first corner sp; join with sl st to first dc. (24, 40, 56, 72 dc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 6: With right side facing, join Red with sc in any corner ch-2 sp, 2 sc in same sp, (sc in next sc) around, working 3 sc in each corner ch-2 sp; join with sl st to first sc. (84 sc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 7: With right side facing, join White with sl st to center sc of any 3-sc corner, ch 5, 2 dc in same sp, * (dc in next sc) across to corner, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 sp; rep from * around omitting last corner of final repeat; dc in first corner sp; join with sl st to first dc. (96 dc)

Rnd 8: Sl st to first ch-2 sp, ch 5, 2 dc in same sp, * (dc in next dc) across to corner, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 sp; rep from * around omitting last corner of final repeat; join. (112 dc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Edging

Rnd 1: With right side facing, join Red with sc in any corner ch-2 sp, (5 dc, sc) in same sp, ** skip next dc, 5 dc in next sc, skip 2 dc, * sl st in next dc, skip next 2 dc, 5 dc in next dc, skip next 2 dc; rep from * across to corner, (sc, 5 dc, sc) in corner ch-2 sp; rep from ** around omitting last corner of final repeat; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends. (24 shells)

Cherry (Make 2)

Rnd 1: (Right Side) With Red, ch 1 (center ch), ch 2, (9 hdc, 3 sc) in center ch; join with sl st to first hdc. (12 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in first hdc, 2 hdc in next 8 hdc, sl st in next 3 sc; join with sl st to first hdc. Finish off leaving long ends.

Leaves

With Green ch 22, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next ch, * sc in next 2 ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in next 2 ch, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next 2 ch *, (sl st, ch 1, sl st) in last ch ; working in unused lps of starting ch on other side, sl st in next ch, rep from * to * across, sl st in last 2 ch. Finish off leaving long end.

Stems

With right side of one Cherry facing, join Brown with sl st to center sl st at top of Cherry, ch 7, with right side of Leaves facing, sl st in st between leaves, ch 10, with right side of other Cherry facing, sl st in center top st of Cherry. Finish off and weave in ends.

– Using long ends, position and sew Cherries and Leaves to front of dishcloth.
