Upcycled Men’s Shirts Decoupage Planters
The Upcycled Men's Shirts Decoupage Planters are a creative and eco-friendly way to repurpose old shirts into unique planters. Supplies:
- Men’s shirt – grab some from the op shop if you want
- Plastic or terracotta flowerpot
- Scissors or a Rotary Cutter
- Ruler
- Mat
- Mod podge and/or spray adhesive
- Foam brush
Instructions for making these planters:
- Cut your shirts into sections – first cut away the shirt pockets and put aside for later on in this project. Cut off the sleeves, buttons, and collars which can be kept for future projects or rags.
- Cut the remaining part of the shirts into strips that measure 9 inches long by 1 inch wide.
- Apply the mod podge onto a small section of the flowerpot.
- Apply on the inside lip of the pot, moving down the side and under the bottom. You could also use spray adhesive instead of the mod podge as it may be easier to apply, especially when using plastic pots.
- Repeat the process until the pot is covered.
- Seal with a coat of mod podge and allow to dry completely.
- Trim any excess fabric off the edges of the shirt pocket. Brush a thin layer of mod podge onto the back of the pocket and place the pocket onto the flowerpot and let dry. DO NOT seal the pocket or apply a coat of mod podge to the front of it as then you won’t be able to use it.
- Once all is dry, plant up your plants and scatter throughout your garden.
