Crochet Bumble Bee Dish Soap Cover

Materials:

2 oz ea yellow and black , 1 oz white (I used Red Heart Sportweight)

Crochet hook size H

This pattern is made from the top down, and fits a 25 oz dish detergent bottle. For a smaller bottle simply decrease number of rows.

Head: With Yellow ch 20, sl st to beg ch.

Row 1: ch 2 *dc in next 5 ch, 2 dc in next ch* Repeat from * to * 2 x's ending dc in next 2 ch, sl st to ch 2.

Row 2: ch 2 * dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc* repeat form * to * 6 x's sl st to ch 2.

Row 3 – 4: ch 2 dc in ea dc around, sl st to ch 2.

Row 5: ch 2*dc in next 5 dc, dc dec* repeat from * to * 4 x's ending dc in next 3 dc, dc dec, sl st to ch 2.Drop yellow to back of work (Do not finish off.)

Torso and body:

Row 6: Join black, ch 2 *dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, * repeat from * to * 4 x's rnding dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, sl st to ch 2.

Row 7: repeat row 3

Row 8 – 10: Repeat rows 5 – 7 changing back to yellow and dropping black to back of work at beg row 9.

Row 11-17 : repeat row 3 with following color pattern: 1 tow black, 2 rows yellow, ending with 1 row of black.

Eyes: (make 2)

With White Ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st to first sc finish off, leaving 1 inch tail at both ends. Using tails tie to post of dc on 2nd row of head.

Feelers: (make 2)

With Black Leaving a 3 inch tail at beg, ch 9, in 2nd ch from hook work 4 sc, sc in ea sc across. Finish off leaving 3 inch tail. Pull both tails through beg ch of head above eyes,pull through center of eye and back through one sc of eye and weave into inside of head.

Wings: (make 2)

With White Ch 4 leave tail long enough for stitching in place.

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ea ch across

Row 2: Ch 1 turn, sc in ea sc across

Row 3: ch 1 turn, sc in 1st sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last sc

Row 4: ch 1 turn, sc in ea sc across

Row 5: ch 1 turn, sc in 1st 2 sc, ch 1 sc in last 2 sc

Row 6: ch 1 turn, sc in 1st 2 sc, sc in ch 1 sp and in last 2 sc

Row 7: ch 1 turn, sc in 1st 2 sc, 2 sc in in next sc, sc in last 2 sc,

Row 8: ch 1 turn, sc in ea sc across

Row 9: ch 1 trun, sc in 1st 3 sc, ch 1 sc in last 3 sc

Row 10: ch 3 turn, sl st in sch 1 sp, ch 3 and in same space as sl st, work 10 dc , slst to end of row 9.

Row 11: ch 1 turn, sc in ea dc and in top of ch3, sl st to 1st scoff row 9 finish off and weave in ends. Sew in place on 2nd row of torso.

Arms:

With black ch 23, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ea ch across. Finish off. Twist a few times and stitch ends to side of torso.
