How do you make this Clay Pot Christmas Tree Ornament?
This is a lot of fun and easy for tweens and teens to put together.
Begin by painting a base coat on the 2.5” clay pot with kelly green acrylic craft paint. Let the paint dry and then apply a second coat, if necessary.
Paint the wooden star with bright yellow acrylic craft paint on the front, back, and all sides. Set aside to dry. Apply a second coat, if necessary.
Using liquid glue with a fine tip applicator to attach the mini pom poms to the clay pot tree.
Cut a 12” length of natural jute twine, tie it in a loop with a knot, and attach to the top of the clay pot tree with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Adhere the star to the top of the tree. Then, set it aside to dry.
TIP: If you do not have a fine tip applicator, place a small amount of liquid glue on a paper plate and apply with a toothpick.
Draw scallops around the clay pot tree with gold glitter glue. Repeat down the entire length of the tree.
Outline the wooden star with gold glitter glue as well.
Allow the ornament to completely dry before hanging on the tree!
This is the a wonderful family fun craft activity to complete with the kids. It also works well as a place card for Christmas dinner as a little take home gift. Or…you could make it a fun gift tag for a holiday present, or make it this year’s ornament to hang on the tree!
