Materials

Wide Mouth Quart (32 oz) Mason Jar

White Paint (I used Rust-Oleum’s Chalked Paint in Linen White)

Acrylic Brown & Black Paint

80 Grit Sandpaper

Matte Sealant (this is my favorite brand that doesn’t streak or yellow the paint).

Wine Corks (if you don’t drink wine, you can always buy corks on Amazon!)

Paint Brushes

Start with two coats of white paint. I used chalked paint, but you can also use acrylic white paint.

Let dry overnight between coats.

Once jar completely dry (I waited overnight; but if you use chalked paint you can do this step after a few hours) lightly distress with 80 grit sandpaper.

Use wine cork to add paw dots. Just dip in your paint and them apply to the jar. In some spots I had to roll cork back and forth, up and down. And in some I had to apply more paint (you can do that with the cork or a brush)

It’s hard to tell, but I alternated brown & black dots. In hindsight, I should have used a lighter brown paint color (or lightened my brown with some white) for better contrast.

Using a paint brush, add four dots to complete your paw prints.

The final step was to seal with a matte sealant. This is my go-to favorite brand that doesn’t streak or yellow white paint.

All that’s left to do is fill it with your pups favorite treats!
