Worsted weight yarn in green and pink
G, H, I and J hooks
Yarn needle
BAG:
DO NOT join rounds. When fastening off leave tails about 9 inches long for sewing.
With G hook and green yarn chain 77, leaving at least a 9 inch tail. Join chain with a slipstitch (be careful not to twist).
Round 1: Ch 1, *sc in next 5 stitches, 3 sc in next stitch, sc in next 5 stitches, skip 2 stitches* repeat from * around. The last 2 stitches skipped will be one ch and the first sc of round 1.
Round 2-3: *sc in next 5 stitches, 3 sc in next stitch, sc in next 5 stitches, skip 2 stitches* repeat from * around.
Round 4-10: Switch to pink yarn and H hook, *sc in next 5 stitches, 3 sc in next stitch, sc in next 5 stitches, skip 2 stitches* repeat from * around.
Round 11-15: Switch to I hook, *sc in next 5 stitches, 3 sc in next stitch, sc in next 5 stitches, skip 2 stitches* repeat from * around.
Round 16-17: Switch to J hook, *sc in next 5 stitches, 3 sc in next stitch, sc in next 5 stitches, skip 2 stitches* repeat from * around.
Fasten off.
STEM:
Round 1: With G hook and green yarn, join with a sc in one of the points of round 1, sc in each remaining point. DO NOT turn, DO NOT join.
Round 2-4: Sc in each stitch.
Fasten off and weave yarn in and out of last round and draw closed. Weave in ends.

How to crochet a dc foundation row: Ch 3, insert hook in third chain from hook, draw up a loop, chain 1 to make the base chain, yarn over, pull through 2 loops twice to complete the dc. Then insert hook into the chain 1 just made to make the next stitch.
Round 1: With G hook and green yarn, leaving a 12 inch tail for sewing to bag, crochet a dc foundation row 50 sts long. Ch 1, DO NOT turn.
Round 2: Rvsc around, working 2 rvsc in the ends. DO NOT join, you will get a nearly invisible join if you fasten off leaving a 12 inch tail, and use your yarn needle to join.
FINISHING:
Sew strap to sides about 1-2 inches down from top of opposite valleys. Whip stitch the openings in the bottom of bag closed.
